I.Competition Overview

The 2025 World Ballet Grand Prix (WBGP) (Quanzhou, China) and the 2nd XIBC Xiamen International Ballet Competition are prestigious international ballet events co-organized by UNESCO and the International Federation of Ballet Competitions, with the Fujian Ballet Association serving as the founding and organizing body. The competition aims to establish a globally influential platform for ballet excellence, fostering artistic growth, facilitating cultural exchange, and showcasing exceptional talent. Through this event, dancers worldwide will gain opportunities to refine their artistry, share achievements, and realize their aspirations, collectively advancing the vibrancy and prosperity of ballet across the globe.

Centered on ballet education and talent development, the competition seeks to strengthen dialogue and collaboration among emerging artists from diverse cultural backgrounds. It aspires to explore innovative perspectives and practices in ballet, bridging traditions with contemporary creativity. To uphold the highest standards of integrity, the organizing committee has convened a distinguished international jury composed of renowned ballet experts, ensuring fairness, impartiality, and transparency throughout the adjudication process.

·July 21—22: “World Heritage Quanzhou” Cultural and Tourism Integration Program: East and West Towers, West Street Ancient Alleys, Fuwen Temple, Qingyuan Mountain, Minnan-Taiwan Connection Museum, Xunpu Zanhuawei, etc. (optional activities, fees are self-paid)

*Note: During the above activities, the schedule may be subject to changes based on the number of participants, with the actual schedule to be confirmed on-site.

(II) Program Requirements

1.Program Duration:

Solo Dance: Program duration must not exceed 3 minutes

Pas de deux (Choreographed): Program duration must not exceed 6 minutes

Pas de deux (Classical): Program duration must not exceed 10 minutes

Group Dance: Program duration must not exceed 8 minutes

Ensemble Dance: Program duration must not exceed 8 minutes

2、Contemporary dance programs must be choreographed after 2015.

3、The same program may be used for both the preliminary and final rounds.

Note: The registration fee covers the practice attire and ballet shoes for the semi-finals, which will be provided by the organizing committee during registration.

V.Awards & Prizes

1.The Organizing Committee of the 2025 WBGP World Ballet Grand Prix (Quanzhou, China) and the 2nd XIBC Xiamen International Ballet Competition will award medals, trophies, and certificates to winning participants. All finalists will receive certificates issued by the Organizing Committee.

2.The Organizing Committee of the 2025 WBGP World Ballet Grand Prix (Quanzhou, China) and the 2nd XIBC Xiamen International Ballet Competition intends to provide additional benefits, including but not limited to eligibility for related international competitions, scholarships for masterclasses, and short-term training opportunities. Final details will be announced during the awards ceremony.

3.The Xiamen International Ballet Competition will award cash prizes to winning participants. All taxes related to the cash prizes will be withheld and paid by the Organizing Committee on behalf of the recipients.

III.Application Materials and Specific Competition Requirements

The application requirements for the 2025 WBGP World Ballet Grand Prix (Quanzhou, China) are the same as those for the 2nd XIBC Xiamen International Ballet Competition. Contestants may register for both competitions simultaneously.

(I) Preliminary Round

Contestants are required to submit a performance video (or award certificate), three photographs, an application form, and music audio for their piece.

1、Video and Award Certificate Requirements

(1)Contestants must submit a performance video. Those competing in the Classical Dance category must submit a Classical Dance piece; those competing in the Contemporary Dance category must submit a contemporary dance piece. (Format: MP4, MOV, 1080P, under 500MB)

(2)The video must be recorded in a single take using a full-body wide shot. Camera movement, angle changes, editing, added background music, and non-performance sounds (such as applause or voices) are not allowed. The video and audio quality must be clear.

(3)The performance must be by the contestant themselves. Videos that are forged, AI-generated, or feature a substitute performer will result in disqualification.

(4)The preliminary round will be judged anonymously by the panel. The submitted video must not contain any text or subtitles identifying the contestant. Videos with identifying information will be considered invalid and the contestant will be disqualified from the preliminary round.

(5)Contestants who have previously won Grand Prix, Gold, Silver, or Bronze awards at any of the following competitions are exempt from submitting a preliminary video but must provide valid proof of their award:

• Varna International Ballet Competition (Bulgaria)

• Helsinki International Ballet Competition (Finland)

• Prix de Lausanne (Switzerland)

• USA International Ballet Competition (Jackson, Mississippi)

• Moscow International Ballet Competition (Russia)

• Korea International Ballet Competition

• Japan International Ballet Competition

• Mongolia International Ballet Competition

• Shanghai International Ballet Competition

• Beijing International Ballet and Choreography Competition

• Or other international competitions recognized by the Organizing Committee

2、Photo Requirements

(1)One recent front-facing headshot without a hat (JPG, minimum 300 dpi)

(2)Two full-body ballet poses in practice wear, taken in a dance studio (JPG, minimum 300 dpi). The poses must be different.

* For the 2025 WBGP World Ballet Grand Prix, only one person needs to submit the application for pas de deux, ensemble, or group pieces. For the 2nd XIBC Xiamen International Ballet Competition, each contestant must register individually, even for pas de deux.

4、Music Requirements

Audio files must be in MP3 or m4a format and clearly labeled with the name and duration of the piece.

5、Other Notes

(1) The registration deadline is June 10, 2025, at 23:59 (Beijing Time). Contestants must complete the online registration or submit all application materials to fjblwxh@163.com before the deadline. Late submissions will not be accepted.

(2) For email registration, the email subject must follow this format: “Contestant Name + Nationality + Competition Name + Division + Age Group”. All application materials must be placed in one folder, which should also be named using this format. Incomplete, incorrectly formatted, or late submissions will be considered invalid.

(3) No application fee is required for the preliminary round.

(II) Semi-Final Round

(1)The Organizing Committee will arrange expert judges to provide training sessions focusing on fundamental techniques in Classical Dance or contemporary dance. During the sessions, judges will score participants. Specific time and venue arrangements will depend on the contestant’s age, division, and other factors.

(2)Contestants must wear the designated practice attire and dance shoes provided by the Organizing Committee.

(3)Scores from the semi-final round will be included in the final overall score.

(III) Final Competition

1、Order of Performance

(1) The order of performance for participants will be determined by a lottery. The order will follow the numbers drawn. All participants must attend the lottery. For Pas de deuxs, Group Dances, and Ensemble Dance, only one participant is required to draw.

(2) Participants who cannot attend the lottery due to special reasons will have their order drawn on their behalf by the organizing committee.

(3) Under special circumstances, the organizing committee has the right to adjust the order of performance.

2、Program Requirements

(1)Duration of the program:

Solo Dance: The program must not exceed 3 minutes.

Pas de deux (Choreographed): The program must not exceed 6 minutes.

Pas de deux (Classical): The program must not exceed 10 minutes.

Group Dance: The program must not exceed 8 minutes.

Ensemble Dance: The program must not exceed 8 minutes.

(2)For female Classical Dance participants:

For the Preschool and Pre-junior Groups, soft shoes must be worn.

For Junior Group (A), participants may choose between soft shoes or pointe shoes.

For Junior Group (B) and the Senior Group, pointe shoes must be worn.

For the 2025WBGPWorld Ballet Grand Prix (China, Quanzhou), Adult group participants may choose either soft shoes or pointe shoes.

(3) Contemporary dance programs must be choreographed after 2015.

(4) The same program can be used for both the preliminary round and the final competition.

(5) Participants are responsible for addressing any copyright issues related to composition, choreography, and other performance-related matters. The competition organizing committee is not responsible for this.

(6) The use of flammable materials, water, or salt on stage is prohibited. Nude performances are not allowed.

(7) Participants must prepare their own performance costumes.

3、Music

All participants must bring a USB drive with their music to be checked upon registration.

4、Judging

(1) The competition organizing committee will invite prominent figures from the international ballet community to form the jury. The jury members must adhere to the rules set by the competition organizing committee.

(2) All judges will attend both the semi-finals and the final competition to score.

(3) The final score of each participant will be based on a combined evaluation of their performance in the semi-finals and finals.

(4) In accordance with the jury rules, there may be instances where awards are tied or not awarded.

(IV) GALA Performance and Award Ceremony

(1) All participants must attend the GALA performance, which is unpaid.

(2) The GALA performance will feature two types of programs: one chosen by the organizing committee from the participants’ programs, and the other arranged by experts appointed by the organizing committee.

(3) The GALA performance and the award ceremony will be attended by an audience.

(4) During the award ceremony, all participants are required to wear their performance costumes.
